City of Asbury Park
In his capacity as Director of the Department of Commerce for the City of Asbury Park, Tom is responsible for the planning, organization, development and supervision of the city's economic development. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Asbury Park Urban Enterprise Zone Program. In addition, the Director provides technical assistance to small business owners. The Department of Commerce manages the city's marketing, web site, public relations and special events. Tom joined the City in April 2002 and previous was employed by the New Jersey Commerce & Economic Growth Commission. He is the author of the city's weekly email blasts.
Tom Gilmour is a former Council President in the Borough of Fair Haven and also served as a member of the town's planning board. Mr. Gilmour serves on the Boards of The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, The Monmouth Ocean Development Council and the Asbury Park Rotary. He serves as an Advisory Board Member of Brookdale Community College's Small Business Resource Center. Mr. Gilmour is a graduate of Bucknell University with a B.S. in Business Administration
During his time with the NJ Commerce and Economic Growth Commission he was selected to represent the commission at the 9-11 Governor's Office of Victim Assistance and Recovery in Jersey City. In 2006, he received the New Jersey State Public Service Award from Governor Corzine.
